Substation land and air integrated collaborative intelligent inspection platform

变电站陆空一体化协同智能巡视平台 1 1

The integrated land and air collaborative intelligent inspection platform for substations is based on digital twin technology and adopts the “ground robot + aerial drone” intelligent inspection mode. It takes “joint land and air inspection, equipment defect generation, manual flight inspection, simulation of complex environments, and intelligent report generation” as its core functions to carry out comprehensive inspections of substation equipment, greatly reducing the intensity of substation operation and maintenance work, avoiding false inspections and missed inspections during the inspection process, and improving the healthy operation level of equipment in substations under high temperature and high load conditions.

Intelligent visual positioning improves device recognition accuracy

The quadruped patrol robot integrates three-dimensional spatial positioning, camera calibration, pan-tilt kinematic modeling, and an improved SSD algorithm for rapid equipment positioning. It also uses PID to control the pan-tilt, ensuring high-precision positioning and acquisition of high-quality images of power equipment during complex movements, thereby improving the accuracy of image detection and recognition.

Intelligent autonomous cruise

Quadruped robot autonomous cruising technology involves multi-sensor information fusion, environmental perception, and understanding. By integrating multiple sensors, such as cameras, radar, and infrared sensors, the robot can perceive its surroundings, identify obstacles and terrain, and provide rich sensory data for autonomous cruising. Furthermore, by processing and understanding this sensory data through technologies such as deep learning, the robot can more intelligently navigate complex scenarios. It can automatically plan paths, avoid obstacles, locate itself, and complete tasks without human intervention, greatly expanding the robot’s application capabilities in complex environments.

Real infrared effect

Accurately reproduce the infrared effect of drone inspections, delicately displaying the infrared characteristics of objects that change color with temperature. Heat generation areas are clearly visible, and anomalies are quickly identified. Different materials produce different infrared effects, providing a more realistic training experience.

Joint land and air inspections

Relying on a 3D model of the actual teaching substation, quadruped robots and drones were deployed to conduct joint inspections of key areas, such as the switchyard, high-voltage room, and main control room. This system effectively monitors the substation from all angles. The quadruped robots on the ground perform meticulous inspections, while the drones, at their high altitude, provide a macro perspective. The two complement each other, ensuring comprehensive coverage of inspection points. This not only significantly improves the efficiency and accuracy of inspections, but also further strengthens the protective barrier for the safe operation of substation equipment.

Equipment defect simulation

Based on real-world drone inspection conditions, defects are set for virtual drone training scenarios. The system has a built-in dynamic defect library that can randomly set common defect types, such as hardware corrosion, insulator contamination, and insulator cracks.

Simulating complex environments

The system accurately reproduces actual substation operating scenarios, including the electromagnetic environment and meteorological conditions. Incorporating cutting-edge flight control technology, it accurately calculates the drone’s flight attitude in real time. This enables trainees to effectively address various complex challenges during training, laying a solid foundation for future practical operations.

Manual flight inspection

Using a real remote control to control a drone equipped with visible light and infrared cameras, we provide comprehensive simulated inspection training. This training covers the entire process, from takeoff and flight control to inspection, photography, and landing, strictly adhering to the “Technical Specifications for Substation UAV Inspections.” This helps participants gain a deep understanding and mastery of every aspect of the inspection process, ensuring they can master the operation in practice and accurately complete their inspection tasks.

Manual teaching

Complete safety verification of joint patrol points in a three-dimensional scene, avoid heavy electromagnetic interference areas and important equipment areas within the station, support joint patrol point generation and export, and joint patrol with on-site real machines, record manual flight waypoints, robot patrol sites, pitch angles and other information, and assist in generating joint patrol route files.

Intelligent report generation

The substation inspection training has a built-in automatic generation function of drone substation inspection reports. The module has a built-in basic template for substation inspection reports. It can automatically generate corresponding inspection reports based on the inspection task objectives, target images and defect identification results for teaching leaders and inspection personnel to review and guide the defect elimination work.
